That depends on your interest in VR entertainment and financial situation.. I bought this game because of some article I read about it using some new tech for rendering the scenes. Not sure what I was expecting, but right now it feels a lot like a tech demo more than something 'complete'. There was a lot of weird artifacting on the people (fingers webbing together, fabric flickering around, weird flat face for the female character, strange parallax effect when you look out the window during some of the scenes. Just a lot of overall weirdness. The story was ok, but difficult to get into. It wasn't like some profound story that made me really care about the main character. Honestly, I wouldn't say this game is worth $8.The negatives of this particular title aside, I'm really excited for the future of VR and cinema. I can't wait for semi-interactive and non-interactive VR cinema to take off and I'm happy to see that there are developers starting to get into this space more.. My first refund. Those 20 minutes of Awake: Episode One present very little of the story and most of the scenes are shown in its Steam Trailer. And this "photo-realistic" visuals are just awful when it comes to human characters: they run right into uncanny valley and stay there. Even in static faces look very weird and in motion things get 10 times worse. Maybe VR should stick to stylized visuals in this generation of technology). Awake makes you feel like your in that in-between state when your neither fully awake or fully asleep. The ability to light the characters faces makes you feel like you can hold their chins in the palm of your hands \u2014 that moment when you become Harry or Rose positions the story centrally in your psyche. When the light shone out of me, I am sure I burst. Look you give me an experience where it tells me to dream I will dream but, even the greatest cynic has to appreciate when a story envelopes you whole. I would love to dive into the teacup.. WOW, when is the next part out, These movie volumetric video's, need to be supported, the future of movies is astonishing. I can't wait till they produce full blockbuster movies in these formats. The immersion level is something else. Loved it, can't wait for more.. Unless I am doing something wrong or missing something this is about 15-20min tops for a playthrough. Promising if expanded but very lacking for the price right now.. I thought this might be interesting, but not really. Story wasn't too great and tech wasn't very impressing compared to games..
